Catena in Psalmos.
| Biblical text with catena commentary ("Textkatene”), that belongs to Catena Typus XI Karo-Lietzmann (CPG C24). However, it would be urgently advisable to reconsider the classification of the catena types on this point: Ra 1209 should not be assigned to type XI, but clearly to type VI. The manuscript has been very badly damaged by fire in 1904. It is the only witness of the second volume of the tripartite edition of the Catena Palestinensis (cf. CPG C12). Otherwise, only the first volume of this tripartite edition has survived (mss. Ra 1021, 1113, 1121, 1270). Together with Ra 1121, Ra 1209 is the most important witness which stands out from the others, since these two manuscripts have preserved a non-Lucianic biblical text that is very close to the text of the Origenic recension. The text-critical significance of these two catena manuscripts for the constitution of the Greek Psalter text can hardly be overestimated, see Albrecht, “Origenic Recension”.
